To file a trademark in Mexico, the documents required must be registered before the Mexican Intellectual Property Office (IMPI) provided the owner of the mark ensures all necessary requirements as stipulated by the IMPI are met prior to submitting the official application of registration. 

What documents are required?

The documents required to file a trademark application in Mexico are the following:

  1. The applicant’s full name, address and nationality
  2. Class and description of the product(s) or service(s).
  3. A sample of the trademark (if any).
  4. First use date of the trademark in Mexico (if any).
  5. Co-ownership agreement in the case of several applicants.
  6. A Power of Attorney. 
  7. In Mexico, Priority Document number, country of filing and date is enough to claim priority rights.
