How to file a Trademark in Turkey?

To file a trademark in Turkey, the application must be processed through the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (Türk Patent ve Marka Kurumu or TPTO). The TPTO is the authority responsible for overseeing intellectual property registration applications, including trademarks, in Turkey.

What is a trademark in Turkey?

In Turkey a trademark is any design, image, word, expression, seal, cover, etc., adopted to distinguish industrial, commercial, or agricultural products. Trademarks serve as a form of intellectual property and are used to protect the brand identity of products or services.

Turkey has been a member state of the Madrid Protocol since 2003, so it is easier to expand your trademark application internationally. A trademark in Turkey has the right to exclusively use a trademark and protects your trademark against third-parties from using or copying the trademark.
