To file a trademark in Egypt, the application must be processed through the Egyptian Trademarks Office under the Ministry of Economy and Trade, as they are the authority responsible for overseeing intellectual property registration applications in Egypt.
What is a trademark in Egypt?
In Egypt, a trademark refers to a legally registered symbol, word, phrase, logo, design, or any combination thereof that distinguishes goods or services provided by a particular business or individual from those of others in the marketplace. As such, trademarks serve as a form of intellectual property and play a key role in protecting the brand identity of products or services.
Furthermore, Egypt has been a member state of the Madrid Protocol since 2009, which facilitates easier international expansion of your trademark application. Consequently, a trademark registered in Egypt grants you the exclusive right to use it and protects your brand against third parties who may attempt to use or copy your trademark.
